Pyrotechnic Assembly Operative

Chalgrove | £27,500 | Permanent | Days

A globally recognised aerospace manufacturer in Chalgrove is looking for an Assembly Operative to join its pyrotechnics team, assembling cartridges and rocket motors for aviation safety systems.

This is precise, regulated work involving explosive materials — there's no margin for error and no shortcuts. Every task is carried out strictly to engineering drawings and work instructions, so if following technical documentation to the letter doesn't come naturally to you, this won't be the right fit.

The Role

• Assembling pyrotechnic components exactly to engineering drawings and work instructions — precision and accuracy are non-negotiable

• Using weighing equipment and specialist tooling to achieve precise tolerances

• Handling explosive materials safely and strictly in line with mandatory procedures

• Accurately identifying part numbers, drawing issues and batch details

• Maintaining and monitoring tools and equipment to ensure safe operation

• Updating SAP to record work in progress and maintain full traceability

• Ensuring all work meets quality standards and explosives compliance requirements

• Contributing to housekeeping and keeping the working environment clean and safe

What We're Looking For

• Background in production or manufacturing

• Proven ability to read, interpret and follow engineering drawings precisely — this is essential, not desirable

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to tight tolerances without deviation

• Understanding of H&S policies and procedures

• Basic IT and SAP skills

• Good communication skills and a proactive approach

• GCSE grades D–G or equivalent

Experience with explosives or pyrotechnic assembly is a bonus, and full training will be given to the right candidate. What can't be trained is the discipline to follow technical documentation exactly as written — that needs to come naturally.

What's on Offer

• £27,500 per annum

• Days: Mon–Thu 08:00–16:45 / Fri 08:00–12:00

• Strong benefits package

• Genuine progression opportunities

• Specialist training in handling and assembling explosive materials

• Long-term stability backed by over a decade of secured contracts

This is a permanent role with a respected name in aerospace manufacturing. The work is detailed, regulated and safety-critical — suited to someone who takes real pride in doing things properly, every single time.
