Python Developer - Banking (Contract until 30/11/2026 with potential extension)

Sheffield or Birmingham | Hybrid | 3 days onsite per week

A major banking client is seeking a hands‑on Python Developer to build automation, APIs, and containerized services that power large‑scale database operations. This is a long‑term contract with strong potential to extend.




What You'll Do

  • Design automation solutions for database operations and rollout workflows

  • Build and integrate APIs using Python & FastAPI for database management

  • Troubleshoot automation issues across scripts, APIs, and containerized environments

  • Containerize and deploy services using Docker & Kubernetes

  • Administer Kubernetes resources (Pods, Ingress, Services, Secrets, CRDs, etc.)




Required Skills

  • Python API development with FastAPI

  • Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and analytical capability

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployments

  • Understanding of Kubernetes resource administration




Nice to Have

  • Observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry

  • Exposure to enterprise tools: Control‑M, TrueSight, Guardium, Tenable Nessus, Delinea

  • Knowledge of security practices in regulated environments

  • CI/CD lifecycle understanding (build, package, test, deploy)

  • Experience with Agile tools (JIRA)

  • HashiCorp Vault for secrets management

  • Exposure to PostgreSQL or MongoDB / MongoDB Atlas
