Park Cakes is a c£180 million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brands of major retailers, there are two sites both based in the North West at Oldham and Bolton.

Our products include, high end celebration cake products, slab cakes and mainstream desserts. We mostly supply Marks & Spencer's although we also supply other major retailers.

Job Vacancy: An opportunity has arisen for x2 QA Technicians

Example Accountabilities:

  • Compiling, issuing, and training of process control records and quality standards.
  • Attending trials and product launches.
  • Auditing and monitoring of food safety, quality, and legality within the factory.
  • Internal Auditing (systems, GMP, CCP audits)
  • Investigation of customer complaints and attending/facilitating customer complaints meetings
  • Problem-solving and supporting Operations / Technical in resolving issues
  • Monitor the standards of hygiene, food safety, GMP, traceability, allergen management, legality and quality.
  • Carrying out Traceability and Mass balance exercises
  • Organise / attend QC panels on site and ensure corrective actions are followed up and communicated.
  • Verification of key equipment
  • Carrying out swabbing (Micro and allergen) as and when required
  • Ensuring their area / factory is to the best GMP standards ready for unannounced audits / customer visits.
  • Further details to be discussed at interview stage.
  • Set up new products within factory systems, including auto-coding and metal detection/X-ray requirements, and problem-solving issues to ensure effective line start-up and compliance.
  • Carry out organoleptic assessments on products requiring recoding/repacking and provide QA approval prior to repacking activities taking place.
  • Develop, review and amend line standards and QC documentation to support new product launches and product changes.
  • Review QPO30 maintenance documentation, completing pre-work and post-work assessments to verify food safety requirements have been met and authorising sign-off prior to equipment release.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role within a food manufacture environment OR educated to degree or equivalent in a food science related discipline.
  • Some previous experience and/or knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., BRC), auditing and HACCP would be useful.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills across all levels are essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize.
  • Must be completely flexible with working hours - may be required to do Nights, Evening or Weekends.

Working Hours: 6am till 5pm 4 on 4 off Or 7am till 3pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 7am till 2pm. Note however flexibility at short notice is required to support business needs either side of core hours.

Package: Salary £30,863 for 4 on 4 off / Salary £29,838 for Monday to Friday + Benefits including 25 days holiday a year including bank holidays, Contributory pension scheme, Retailer Discount Scheme, Subsidised canteen
