QHSE Manager – Foundry

Location: Lye, West Midlands
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 44 hours per week
Job Type: Permanent
Site: Dual-site responsibility

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced QHSE Manager to join an established foundry and manufacturing business with responsibility across two sites.

This is a senior leadership position overseeing Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards across the operation, with responsibility for leading a team of Quality Engineers and Technicians.

The successful candidate will have strong foundry and QHSE experience, ideally with knowledge of high-integrity ductile iron castings, and will play a key role in driving quality, safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the QHSE function across two sites
  • Develop and implement effective Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Lead and develop Quality Engineers and Technicians
  • Monitor and improve quality throughout the foundry, including core making, moulding, melting, pouring and finishing
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventative measures
  • Conduct internal quality, health & safety and supplier audits
  • Prepare for and support external and customer audits
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and certifications
  • Carry out risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Monitor QHSE performance, trends and KPIs and report findings to senior management
  • Analyse quality data to identify trends, root causes and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain defect and quality databases
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering and Technical teams to resolve quality issues
  • Ensure raw materials and supplier processes meet required quality standards
  • Develop and deliver QHSE training, toolbox talks and awareness programmes
  • Promote a strong culture of quality, safety, environmental responsibility and continuous improvement
  • Oversee environmental initiatives including waste management and energy efficiency

About You

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a QHSE management role within a foundry or manufacturing environment, with strong technical knowledge of production processes and quality controls.

You will be confident operating at all levels of an organisation, from the shop floor through to senior management, and have the ability to influence change, solve problems and drive continuous improvement.

Experience within a ductile iron foundry or high-integrity casting environment would be highly advantageous.

Requirements

  • Proven QHSE management experience within a foundry/manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements
  • Technical understanding of foundry processes and casting quality
  • Experience with ductile iron castings highly desirable
  • Strong experience with audits, inspections and risk assessments
  • Excellent root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong data analysis skills, ideally using Excel, Minitab or similar
  • Knowledge of quality systems and ISO standards
