What you'll be doing:
- Enforce Veolia and Essar's safety standards, policies and procedures in all work Veolia conducts on the Stanlow site. Conducted via desktop exercises and continual field visits and inspections
- Review and continually improve all H&S related documentation used by Veolia in all operations.
- Continually improve and develop the safety culture through engagement and enforcement of the correct standards. Provide impartial availability for the workforce to challenge unsafe behaviours or requests from the client or management team.
- Work with Essars safety department and systems to maintain and continually increase Veolia's profile in terms of participation in their safety programmes and accident/ incident recording systems.
- Attend meetings with Essar representatives and other contractors on site to maintain and continually increase Veolia's profile, as well as keeping the Veolia management team informed of developments and changes to site rules and situations.
- Lead in the management of Veolias shared drives and maintain suitable records to satisfy audit processes, liability claims and accident/ incident investigations etc. Lead within the on site management team on the maintenance of Veolia's ISO accreditations.
- Support the operations team in the induction and training of all staff and relevant persons under the control of Veolia on site.
- Support and where necessary, complete investigations into accidents and incidents. Identify route causes and ensure improvements are closed out to prevent any recurrence.
- Lead in the management of and compliance with the site VMR, closing out any actions identified during audits.
- In times of demand, directly support the operations team in the planning and delivery of works.
What we're looking for:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH membership with industrial H&S implementation experience
- Proven ability to lead accident investigations, identify root causes, and manage RIDDOR reporting
- Experience managing ISO accreditations, internal audits, and H&S documentation systems
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills; ability to foster safety culture and challenge unsafe behaviours across all levels
- Experience in petrochemical or refinery environments with contractor management and site safety systems knowledge
