Pay Rate: £28.55 per hour Umbrella
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid – mixture of office and home working
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ post-qualifying experience (PQE) required
DBS: A DBS check may be applicable

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and committed Children’s Social Worker to join the CIC, Children’s Safeguarding and Family Support Services team.

The successful candidate will manage a caseload of children and families, undertaking assessments, managing safeguarding risks and developing effective care and support plans. You will work closely with children, families, carers and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes and promote children’s safety, wellbeing and stability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an allocated caseload of children and families, including Children in Care (CIC).

  • Undertake high-quality, timely and evidence-based assessments.

  • Develop, implement and review effective care and support plans.

  • Lead on complex cases involving safeguarding, risk management and child protection.

  • Prepare high-quality reports and provide evidence for court proceedings where required.

  • Build strong and purposeful relationships with children, young people, families and carers.

  • Work collaboratively with statutory, voluntary and independent agencies.

  • Coordinate multi-agency interventions and ensure care plans are effectively implemented.

  • Review progress regularly and adapt interventions where positive outcomes are not being achieved.

  • Undertake preventative and early intervention work to reduce the need for children to enter care.

  • Ensure children’s wishes, feelings and lived experiences remain central to decision-making.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and professional standards.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification.

  • Current Social Work England registration.

  • Minimum 3 years’ post-qualifying experience (PQE) – ESSENTIAL.

  • Strong experience working with children, families and safeguarding.

  • Experience working with Children in Care (CIC).

  • Experience managing complex caseloads and assessing risk.

  • Strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills.

  • Experience working effectively with multi-agency partners.

  • Confidence contributing to court proceedings where required.

  • A child-centred, strengths-based approach to practice.

  • Ability to work effectively within a hybrid working environment.

  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to complete a DBS check where applicable.

 Important Application Requirement

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualifying experience.

The DfE form attached to the order documents must be completed and submitted with the candidate's application.

Candidates who do not meet the 3 years PQE requirement or do not have the required DfE documentation may not be considered.
