We are currently recruiting an experienced Social Worker to join the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) within the Referral & Assessment Service in Slough.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a service focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable children and ensuring that the right support and safeguarding action is provided at the right time.
About MASH
The Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) is the first point of contact for potential safeguarding concerns relating to children.
Working as part of a co-located, multi-agency team, you will work alongside partner agencies to share information, identify risks and needs at the earliest opportunity, and ensure that children and families receive an effective, coordinated response.
The aim is simple: make the right decisions for the right families at the right time.
Please note that successful candidates will be required to work from the office for the first three months of their appointment.
About the role
As a Social Worker within MASH, you will:
- Promote and safeguard the wellbeing and best interests of children and young people at all times.
- Manage an independent caseload, ensuring statutory and legislative requirements are met to a high standard and within required timescales.
- Undertake thorough assessments, critically analyse information, manage risk and develop effective plans and interventions.
- Work with complex cases and, where required, initiate proceedings and contribute to court processes.
- Produce high-quality, concise assessments, reports and plans that clearly demonstrate analysis, professional judgement and recommendations.
- Undertake meaningful direct work with children, young people and families, ensuring their views and experiences inform assessment and decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, colleagues and partner agencies to improve outcomes for children.
- Ensure accurate, timely and evidence-based recording in accordance with statutory and confidentiality requirements.
- Develop effective transfer plans when cases move to other services or partner agencies.
- Maintain a high standard of professional practice and take responsibility for your own performance and development.
- Participate in supervision, training, observation, auditing and practice reviews.
- Develop strong working relationships across children's services and partner agencies to ensure a joined-up approach.
- Promote anti-discriminatory practice and ensure services reflect the diverse needs of children and families across Slough.
- Contribute positively to the culture, values and vision of the service and support colleagues when required.
What we're looking for
We are looking for a committed, resilient and child-focused Social Worker who can demonstrate:
- Strong experience within children's social care.
- The ability to undertake effective assessments and make sound professional judgements.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding, risk management and statutory social work practice.
- Confidence working with complex cases and multi-agency partners.
- Strong communication, recording and report-writing skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, families and professionals.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
- A passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
