Quality and Compliance Manager
Location: London or Hertfordshire, with some site visits
Working pattern: Hybrid, mostly office based to start
Salary: Negotiable, plus pension, private healthcare and travel
Contract: Permanent, full time
About the company
Our client is a well established M&E firm working across multiple industries, including airports, highways, high voltage, hospitals and energy and defence sites. It is in its next phase of growth and is strengthening its HSQE function to support it. People who join this company stay for the long haul. It is looking for a Quality and Compliance Manager to own its management system as it grows.
About the role
You will manage the business's three ISO standards: ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environmental) and ISO 45001 (health and safety). You will work closely with the Health and Safety Manager and the board.
What you will do
- Manage the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems
- Keep compliance records up to date across all standards and accreditations
- Run the annual management review
- Plan and lead internal audits, and manage external audits
- Keep accreditations in place, including Constructionline and FORS, and work with a specialist consultant on rail schemes such as RISQS
- Manage supplier validation
- Manage environmental data and reporting
- Bring new sectors into the management system
- Look after document control on Procore
- Keep policies and procedures up to date
What you will bring
Essential
- Lead or advanced internal auditor experience
- Hands on experience with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
- A construction or engineering background
- Strong IT skills
Desirable
- PIEMA, or working towards it
- Experience of integrated management systems (PAS 99)
- Experience with Constructionline, FORS or RISQS
- Procore experience
The person
You love a tidy system, but you know it only works if people actually use it. You spot the gaps, fix them before an auditor does, and explain what's needed in plain English so it makes sense to everyone from site to board. You can engage and encourage site teams to follow best practice, as well as demonstrate quality, environmental and safety performance and improvements at board level. You are positive, organised and easy to work with, and you see audits as a way to help people get it right, not to catch them out.
