Quality Assurance Engineer
Greater Manchester | £35,000 – £42,000 | On-site
Are you an experienced Quality Auditor or Quality Assurance Engineer who enjoys getting underneath processes, identifying where improvements are needed and working collaboratively with teams to make those improvements stick?
We are recruiting for a growing aerospace manufacturing business in Greater Manchester that operates across multiple manufacturing sites, covering precision machining, sheet metal fabrication and specialist processes.
As the business continues to grow, they are strengthening their central Quality function and are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to support their internal audit programme and drive sustainable improvements across the organisation.
The role
This is not simply an auditing position.
You will work across multiple manufacturing sites, carrying out structured audits, following corrective actions through to completion and undertaking deeper improvement projects to address persistent quality and process issues.
You will:
- Deliver a comprehensive programme of internal quality audits across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Conduct both management system and individual process audits.
- Identify non-conformances and areas requiring improvement.
- Issue and follow up corrective actions with site teams.
- Assess root cause and corrective action responses to ensure issues have been properly addressed.
- Monitor actions through to effective closure.
- Identify recurring themes and persistent problems across the division.
- Undertake focused improvement projects throughout the year.
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Manufacturing and Operational teams across the business.
- Help strengthen quality systems and improve audit performance across the organisation.
About you
This position would suit someone who combines strong auditing skills with the communication skills needed to influence people positively.
You will need to be comfortable identifying problems and challenging where necessary, while maintaining productive relationships with the teams you support.
Ideally, you will have:
- Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering experience within manufacturing.
- Strong internal auditing experience.
- A good understanding of ISO 9001.
- Experience of corrective action, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- The confidence to communicate findings and present information clearly.
- A composed and professional approach when dealing with challenging situations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
- The ability to build effective relationships with people at different levels of a manufacturing organisation.
Knowledge of AS9100 would be beneficial but is not essential; training can be provided for someone with an excellent understanding of ISO 9001.
Previous aerospace experience is also advantageous rather than essential. Candidates with relevant experience from other regulated manufacturing sectors, including automotive, nuclear and oil & gas, are encouraged to apply.
Salary & benefits
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000, depending on experience
Pension: 3% employer / 5% employee contribution
Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
Additional benefits: Employee benefits platform
This is an on-site position based in Greater Manchester and will involve working closely with multiple manufacturing operations.
Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate will be subject to security clearance and must have the full legal right to work in the UK.
Why consider this opportunity?
The business is growing strongly, creating an opportunity to strengthen its Quality systems rather than simply maintain them.
You will have visibility across multiple manufacturing operations and the autonomy to identify themes, investigate persistent issues and help teams implement improvements that last.
For someone who enjoys auditing but wants a role where the findings lead to meaningful improvement activity, this offers considerably more variety than a traditional compliance-focused QA position.
