Quality Control Inspector

Emmerson Kitney Engineering & Operations

Quality Control Inspector

LOCATION: Hull, East Yorkshire

SALARY: Excellent + Great Benefits

A Quality Control Inspector is required for Broady Flow Control Ltd, an established UK manufacturer of safety-critical valve products used across demanding sectors including defence, oil and gas. The role has become available following internal movement within the inspection team and continued growth in workload.

As Quality Control Inspector, you’ll be responsible for carrying out dimensional and visual inspection across both incoming components and finished products, ensuring everything meets the required drawings, specifications and quality standards. You’ll work with a range of machined metal components and castings, using both digital and traditional measuring equipment while supporting rejection and non-conformance processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Inspector, QC Inspector or Engineering Inspector who has worked within a precision engineering, machining, valve, oil & gas or heavy manufacturing environment and takes pride in getting things right. With safety-critical products, the focus is firmly on quality over quantity.

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT

  • Inspect safety-critical engineered products used across defence, oil & gas and other demanding applications.
  • Work across both goods-in inspection and finished products, giving you variety rather than repetitive inspection work.
  • Inspect a broad range of machined components, castings and complete valve products.
  • Join an established quality team with experienced inspectors and wider quality support around you.
  • Work in an environment where accuracy and quality are prioritised over simply hitting volume targets.
  • Due to the defence-related nature of the role, you will be required to undergo Security Clearance and sign an Official Secrets Act declaration as part of your employment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Carry out dimensional and visual inspection of incoming components, machined parts, castings and finished products.
  • Read and interpret engineering, design and component drawings to confirm products meet specification.
  • Use digital and non-digital measuring equipment including calipers, height gauges and other precision inspection equipment.
  • Identify non-conforming products and support rejection and non-conformance reporting processes.
  • Complete inspection records and technical documentation accurately using computer-based systems.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Previous experience within Quality Control, engineering inspection, goods-in inspection or a similar manufacturing quality environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and carry out accurate dimensional inspection.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment and understanding equipment calibration and pre-use checks.
  • Experience inspecting metals, machined components or castings, with casting inspection experience particularly valuable.
  • PCN Level 2 qualifications in Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and/or Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) would be highly advantageous, but are not essential.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

  • Competitive salary DOE, with a varied role.
  • Excellent pension – 9.5% contribution.
  • Holiday allowance, including 23 days plus bank holidays plus time off at Christmas (not deducted)
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Life insurance 2.5 times salary.
  • The opportunity to develop further technical inspection and NDE capability within an experienced quality environment.
