The Opportunity

An experienced and proactive Lineside Engineer is required to support manufacturing operations within a fast-paced production environment. Acting as a key technical resource on the shop floor, the successful candidate will work closely with production teams to identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues, ensuring efficient operations, high-quality standards, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing process.

This role plays a critical part in supporting production delivery by providing technical expertise, coordinating with support functions, and driving operational excellence through problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Disruption Management

  • Support production teams in identifying, investigating, and resolving manufacturing issues and non-conformities (NCs).
  • Assist in the assessment and creation of NC notifications, ensuring all relevant technical information is accurately captured.
  • Provide technical analysis and documentation for assembly anomalies, production disruptions, and quality concerns.
  • Support the progression of NCs through containment, corrective actions, and closure.
  • Liaise with quality and supply chain teams, providing relevant data and information to support investigations and resolution activities.
  • Source and provide technical information including drawings, tooling specifications, documentation, references, and parts data.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify production issues and escalate concerns that cannot be resolved by operators or frontline management.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Logistics, and other support functions to resolve operational challenges.
  • Support analysis of manufacturing systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to Lean Manufacturing initiatives and waste reduction activities.
  • Support Work Improvement Proposals (WIPs), Process Validation Forms (PVFs), and Failure Analysis (FA) activities.
  • Undertake the Non-Conformance (NC) Leader role when required.

Industrial Assets & Tooling

  • Support maintenance and repair requests for equipment and tooling.
  • Assist in the specification, development, modification, and improvement of production jigs and tooling.
  • Support calibration and ongoing management of manufacturing assets to ensure operational readiness.

Outstanding Work & Work Order Management

  • Assist with the creation and management of outstanding work documentation.
  • Work with multifunctional teams to assess and prioritise outstanding work requests.
  • Support the management of blocked work orders and escalate issues impacting production schedules.
  • Assist production teams in prioritising serial and rework work orders associated with non-conformities, concessions, or production constraints.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Promote and maintain Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards across the production area.
  • Support the communication and implementation of EHS requirements on the shop floor.
  • Assist in the identification, investigation, and resolution of near-miss incidents.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes, procedures, and quality standards are consistently applied.
  • Support a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Logistics Support

  • Support material prioritisation activities to ensure rework and production requirements are met.
  • Work closely with logistics teams to minimise production delays and maintain workflow continuity.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting quality processes, non-conformance management, or production improvement activities.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on quality, safety, and operational performance.
