An established engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support manufacturing quality, inspection and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer -
- Manage manufacturing quality, non-conformances and customer complaints using 8D / 5 Whys.
- Interpret complex mechanical engineering drawings, including GD&T, and determine appropriate inspection methods.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal manufacturing teams on quality issues.
- Produce inspection reports, quality documentation and control plans.
- Conduct internal, process and supplier audits.
- Support calibration and management of measurement and test equipment.
- Train operators in inspection techniques and equipment.
- Identify and implement improvements to quality and inspection processes.
Key requirements from the Quality Engineer -
- 5+ years' experience in a Quality Engineer or similar role.
- Mechanical engineering background/apprenticeship.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Experience with measurement equipment and producing inspection reports.
- Confident working with customers, suppliers and manufacturing teams.
- Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office.
Desirables -
- CMM programming, PC-DMIS, tactile/laser measurement systems and ISO 9001 auditing experience.
