Yorkshire Precision Engineering Ltd (YPEL) is a successful and growing family-run subcontract precision engineering company based in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

We manufacture high-precision components for a wide range of industries including subsea, medical, hydraulic, oil & gas, food, and general engineering.

Operating across CNC sliding head and fixed head turning, as well as CNC milling, we are committed to delivering high-quality components and exceptional service to our customers.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused individual to play a key role in maintaining and improving standards across the business.

The Role

As Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all products meet customer, internal & supplier quality requirements through inspection, quality control, and continuous improvement activities.

You will work closely with production, engineering, and management teams to maintain high standards and drive improvements throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out first-off, in-process patrol inspections, and final inspection of precision machined components
  • Performing dimensional and visual inspection of batch-produced components to tight tolerances
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality requirements
  • Producing inspection reports including FAIR / ISIR / PPAP documentation where required
  • Operating inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges, height gauges, Shadow graphs and other metrology equipment
  • Using CMM & Keyance IM7020 equipment for inspection and reporting
  • Managing calibration of inspection equipment and gauges
  • Maintaining gauge control systems and calibration records
  • Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Investigating quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints promptly
  • Supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions, using 8D systems
  • Developing and improving inspection procedures, check frequencies, Packing instructions and quality controls
  • Ensuring products are correctly identified, packed, and released prior to despatch

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a Quality Engineer or Inspector role within precision engineering
  • Strong inspection experience using manual measuring equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience working to tight tolerances
  • Good understanding of quality systems and inspection processes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills across all levels of the business
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience within CNC machining / subcontract engineering

Desirable (but not essential)

  • CMM programming or operating experience
  • Experience with FAIR, ISIR, and  PPAP, SPC

Hours

40 hours per week

Monday to Thursday (4 Day Week)
Choose from:

6:00am – 4:30pm
or
7:00am – 5:30pm
