Permanent | Senior Leadership Opportunity Lead Quality Where Engineering Excellence Drives Everything

TXM Recruit is proud to partner with a leading manufacturer operating in the aerospace, defence, and advanced engineering sectors to recruit an experienced Quality Engineering Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business that designs and manufactures highly engineered, mission-critical products where quality, reliability and engineering excellence are fundamental to success. We're looking for a technically credible Quality Engineering leader who enjoys working closely with manufacturing operations, solving complex engineering problems, and leading teams from the front.

This is not purely a compliance or systems role; it's a hands-on leadership position where you'll work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to continually improve product quality, manufacturing capability and operational performance.

The Opportunity

As Quality Engineering Manager, you will lead the Quality Engineering function whilst taking ownership of the organisation's AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems. Working collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain and Customers, you'll drive continuous improvement, lead complex technical investigations and ensure the business continues to deliver products that meet the highest quality and regulatory standards. You'll play a key role in shaping the company's quality strategy whilst maintaining a strong presence within manufacturing, supporting teams in identifying, investigating and eliminating quality issues at source.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Quality Engineering team.
  • Own and continuously improve the AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Drive a proactive culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement throughout the business.
  • Lead internal, customer, supplier and third-party certification audits.
  • Take ownership of complex root cause investigations using recognised problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Drive effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to improve process capability, product quality and operational performance.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI), product acceptance activities and production quality surveillance.
  • Lead non-conformance management activities and ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
  • Support engineering change management, configuration control and new product introduction activities.
  • Analyse quality performance data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develop robust quality metrics and KPIs to drive business performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and regulatory bodies.

About You

We're looking for someone with a strong engineering background who has progressed into Quality Engineering leadership and enjoys remaining actively involved in manufacturing operations. You'll be comfortable working on the shop floor, engaging with engineers and production teams, and leading technical investigations into complex manufacturing issues.

You'll ideally possess:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience leading Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Quality teams.
  • Strong technical understanding of complex manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience leading customer, supplier and certification audits.
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Good understanding of engineering change management and configuration control.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Highly Desirable Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly attractive

  • Chemical or electrochemical manufacturing environments.
  • Surface treatment, coatings or plating processes.
  • Battery, energy storage or power electronics manufacturing.
  • Electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Precision engineering.
  • Aerospace, defence or other highly regulated manufacturing industries

Candidates with experience working to alternative recognised quality management standards, supported by a strong engineering and manufacturing background, will also be considered.
