Salary: £13.89 - £14.43 + Shift Allowance
Hours: Rotating Shifts
- 6:00am - 2:00pm
- 2:00pm - 10:00pm
- Early finish on Fridays (6-hour shift)
Overview:
We are recruiting for a Quality Inspection Operative / Quality Inspector to join a well-established manufacturing business in Sheffield. This role is ideal for someone with a strong precision engineering or manufacturing background who takes pride in ensuring high-quality finishes and working to precise standards.
The job
To ensure all products manufactured meet customer, regulatory and internal quality requirements through inspection, testing and verification activities. The job role supports the manufacture of precision components for a variety of specialist industries, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings and quality management systems.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of components.
- Perform dimensional inspection using a wide range of inspection equipment including verniers and gauges
- Conduct visual inspection of components to identify defects
- Verify product conformity against manufacturing routes, inspection specifications and internal work instructions.
- Complete inspection reports
- Raise and record non-conformances and assist with containment activities.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Approve products for progression through manufacturing or release to customers.
- Monitor calibration status of inspection equipment.
- Maintain inspection records in accordance with company procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Previous experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing inspection role.
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings.
- Understanding of geometric tolerancing.
- Experience using a variety of precision measuring equipment.
- High attention to detail.
- Experience working to documented quality procedures.
- Competent computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to make objective quality decisions.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across production and quality teams.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Excellent timekeeping, reliability, and commitment to maintaining high quality standards
- Understanding of first-off, in-process, and final inspection requirements.
- Experience identifying, documenting, and managing non-conforming products.
