Are you an experienced Quality Inspector with a strong background in precision engineering and dimensional inspection?
We are looking for a technically strong and detail-focused Quality Inspector to join the Quality team of an established precision engineering business based in Stoke-on-Trent. The successful candidate will inspect high-quality precision components, ensuring they meet customer specifications and required quality standards.
The Role
As a Quality Inspector, you will:
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision-engineered components.
- Programme and operate CMM equipment using PC-DMIS.
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances and GD&T.
- Use a range of precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other inspection equipment.
- Produce accurate dimensional inspection reports and maintain quality documentation.
- Complete and support First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
- Support PPAP and NPI activities where required.
- Identify, record and communicate non-conforming components.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and product traceability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct dimensional inspection against engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Develop and modify CMM inspection programmes using PC-DMIS.
- Carry out accurate measurement of complex precision-engineered components.
- Support customer quality requirements and maintain relevant inspection documentation.
- Investigate non-conformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in continuous improvement and 5S activities.
- Support quality procedures within an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
- Assist with NPI, FAIR and PPAP requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Quality Inspector, CMM Inspector or similar within manufacturing or precision engineering.
- Strong practical experience using CMM and PC-DMIS.
- Good understanding of metrology, precision measurement and GD&T.
- Confident interpreting engineering drawings and complex tolerances.
- Experience carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to inspection.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Production and Engineering teams.
- Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive/motorsport, precision engineering or general manufacturing would be highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of FAIR/AS9102, PPAP, ISO 9001, 8D or root cause analysis would be advantageous.
