Quality Inspector

Our client is recruiting for an experienced Quality Inspector to join a busy manufacturing/engineering environment. This is a hands-on inspection role responsible for ensuring manufactured components meet the required drawings, specifications, tolerances and quality standards throughout the production process.
The successful quality inspector will carry out First-Off, In-Process and Last-Off inspections, working closely with production, engineering and quality teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out First-Off inspections to verify components are correct before full production runs commence.
- Perform In-Process inspections throughout manufacturing to ensure components remain within specified tolerances.
- Complete Last-Off inspections at the end of production runs to confirm continued conformity.
- Inspect manufactured components against engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
- Accurately measure dimensional and geometric features using a variety of inspection equipment and hand-held measuring tools.
- Use equipment such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, plug gauges, surface tables and other precision measuring instruments.
- Record inspection results accurately and maintain the required quality documentation and traceability.
- Identify and report non-conforming components, dimensional issues and manufacturing defects.
- Work closely with machine operators and production personnel to address quality concerns and prevent further non-conforming parts being produced.
- Support investigations into quality issues and contribute to corrective actions where required.
- Ensure measuring and inspection equipment is used correctly and remains within calibration requirements.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, attention to detail and housekeeping within the inspection area.
- Follow company quality procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant industry standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience carrying out First-Off, In-Process and Last-Off inspection.
- The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
- A good understanding of dimensions, tolerances and geometric requirements.
- Experience using a range of precision measuring equipment, including verniers and micrometers.
- Previous experience inspecting machined or manufactured components.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to make accurate inspection decisions.
- Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
- The confidence to communicate quality issues effectively with production and engineering teams.
- A practical, methodical approach to problem-solving.
