Quality Inspector – Exciting Opportunity
Placr Recruitment’s client is a successful and growing specialist precision engineering manufacturer looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to join their expanding quality team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a quality professional with a strong machine shop or precision engineering background to take on a key role within the business, working across inspection, supplier quality and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and be confident working to tight engineering tolerances. Strong experience reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings is essential, including geometric tolerancing, datum points and engineering specifications.
The Role
- Inspect sub-assemblies against engineering drawings using CMM, Faro Arm and other precision metrology equipment.
- Raise and manage NCRs, investigating non-conformances and supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues and improve supplier performance.
- Maintain inspection requirements and quality controls through the ERP system, including AQL inspection plans.
- Champion a "Right First Time" approach and support continuous improvement across the business.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Suppliers and other internal teams to maintain and improve quality standards.
- Attend client sites when required, with reasonable travel expenses covered.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Quality Inspector with a strong manufacturing, machine shop or precision engineering background.
You will ideally have:
- 3+ years' experience within a machine shop or similar manufacturing engineering environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of geometric tolerancing, datum points and engineering specifications.
- Practical experience using CMM, Faro Arm and other machine shop metrology equipment.
- A good understanding of ISO 9001:2015, SPC, AQL and supplier quality processes.
- A Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
