Our client is seeking a Quality Inspector to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality professional with a strong background in manufacturing, inspection, metrology, and supplier quality to play a key role in maintaining high standards and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, communicating quality issues clearly and accurately. 
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required, communicate findings, and work with suppliers to achieve prompt resolutions. 
  • Investigate non-conformances through root cause analysis and ensure agreed corrective actions are implemented. 
  • Act as the appointed point of contact for communicating quality concerns between the shop floor and suppliers/vendors. 
  • Ensure the correct AQL inspection plans and quality groups are applied to suppliers based on historical performance, supplier status, and product criticality. 
  • Inspect sub-assemblies against engineering drawings using a range of metrology equipment, including Faro Arm and CMM equipment. 
  • Support Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs) and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs). 
  • Record deviations and non-conformances against drawings and engineering specifications. 
  • Work with tight tolerances and apply an understanding of geometric tolerancing and datum points on complex components. 
  • Apply ISO 2859-1:1999 sampling procedures for inspection by attributes. 
 
Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements: 
  • Experience working to ISO 9001:2015 standards. 
  • At least 3 years’ experience working within a machine shop or similar manufacturing engineering environment. 
  • Good understanding of quality and process management tools and methodologies, including SPC and AQL. 
  • Experience using CMM or Faro Arm equipment, alongside a range of metrology equipment typically used within machine shop environments. 
  • Experience managing supplier quality and working with vendors/suppliers to resolve complex quality issues. 
  • Experience communicating supplier KPIs and supporting supplier performance improvement. 
  • Understanding of geometric tolerancing, datum points, and working with complex components and tight tolerances 
  • Qualified to Degree, HNC or HND level in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.
