Quality Inspector in West Horndon

We are working as the internal recruitment partner for our client, a global organisation providing specialist supply chain solutions to the aerospace industry.

We are now seeking a Quality Inspector to join our clients Quality team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced inspection professional to play a key role in ensuring the quality, compliance, and integrity of aerospace products supplied to customers worldwide.

Reporting to the Supplier Quality Manager, you will be responsible for inspecting incoming materials and outgoing products, maintaining quality standards, supporting compliance activities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the business.

Working within a highly regulated aerospace environment, you will utilise a range of inspection techniques and quality processes to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to quality excellence while developing your expertise within a growing international organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Perform dimensional, visual and documentation inspections on incoming materials and outgoing products.
• Identify parts requiring sample inspection based on product criticality, customer feedback and non-conformance trends.
• Create and maintain product inspection checklists and quality records.
• Accurately document inspection results, reports and product dispositions.
• Create, manage and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
• Support calibration activities, including coordinating external calibration visits and conducting internal calibration tasks.
• Assist with investigations into customer returns and root cause analysis activities.
• Raise and manage quality concerns, non-conformances and supplier returns, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor and manage shelf-life controlled inventory.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Previous experience within a Quality Inspection role, ideally within aerospace, aviation, manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Strong understanding of quality management processes and aerospace quality requirements.
• Knowledge of AS9102 and ISO 2859-1 would be advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and related documentation.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers and gauges.
• Engineering apprenticeship or technical engineering background would be highly beneficial.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
• Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
