Hours of work: 3 days on site, 2 remote working
The Quality Management Lead will ensure quality assurance and quality control requirements are consistently delivered across the full lifecycle of contracts within a major nuclear new build programme, from design and procurement through to manufacture, construction, commissioning and close-out. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers and contractors, you will lead the implementation of project quality plans, oversee supplier quality performance, manage non-conformances, coordinate manufacturing surveillance, and ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards and project requirements. The role is key to driving right-first-time delivery, maintaining robust quality documentation, and supporting the successful delivery of complex, safety-critical infrastructure projects.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate of the following skills/experience:
- HNC/HND or Degree in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) within the nuclear or another highly regulated, safety-critical industry.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems, quality planning, and supplier quality assurance.
- Experience developing and implementing Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs) and Contractor Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs).
- Knowledge of manufacturing surveillance, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and lifetime quality records (LTQRs).
- Experience managing non-conformances (NCRs) and driving quality improvements.
- Strong supplier and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience coordinating audits, inspections, and manufacturing documentation reviews.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Professional membership (or working towards) with the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is desirable.
- Experience engaging with regulators such as the ONR is advantageous.
Role information:
- Lead the implementation of quality assurance and quality control activities across assigned contracts.
- Develop, maintain, and implement Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs).
- Review, approve, and monitor Contractor Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs).
- Ensure suppliers comply with contractual quality requirements and nuclear quality standards.
- Coordinate manufacturing surveillance, inspections, and witness activities throughout the supply chain.
- Manage non-conformances (NCRs), ensuring timely investigation, resolution, and close-out.
- Review and approve key quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs), and Quality Release Certificates (QRCs).
- Lead quality meetings with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate supplier audits and support the resolution of audit findings.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and identify opportunities to improve right-first-time delivery.
- Build strong working relationships with engineering, construction, commissioning, procurement, and supply chain teams.
- Ensure all quality activities are delivered in line with project requirements, regulatory expectations, and safety-critical standards.
