Quality Manager – Aerospace Manufacturing

Location: Rochford, Essex
Salary: Up to £50,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Hours: Monday – Thursday | 6:45am – 4:30pm (37-hour week)

Are you an experienced Quality Manager with a strong aerospace background and proven leadership skills? We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in the Rochford area.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System, leading a skilled inspection team, and ensuring compliance with the highest aerospace quality standards.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee all quality activities across the business, managing a team of two experienced inspectors while balancing priorities including FAIR completion, subcontractor quality activities, audits and day-to-day manufacturing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the Quality Management System in line with AS9100/ISO 9100 requirements.

  • Lead, motivate and develop the Quality Inspection team.

  • Create, review and approve FAIRs and LAIRs using VisualFAIR software.

  • Plan and conduct internal and external quality audits.

  • Act as the company's quality representative for customers and certification bodies.

  • Oversee calibration, testing and inspection activities throughout manufacturing.

  • Ensure all inspection equipment remains calibrated and compliant.

  • Support subcontractor quality activities and quotations.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the quality function.

  • Identify training needs and support ongoing team development.

  • Participate in management review meetings and support wider business objectives.

About You

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

  • Essential aerospace manufacturing experience.

  • Strong experience completing and approving First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9100 and EASA standards.

  • Internal and/or external auditing qualification and experience.

  • Previous leadership or line management experience.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.

  • A proactive approach with exceptional attention to detail.
