We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Quality Manager to lead quality assurance and continuous improvement activities within a modern manufacturing operation in Barnsley.

Quality Manager - Barnsley - Up to £70,000 + Benefits


Quality Manager's Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and mentor the Quality Engineering and Quality Technician teams, ensuring high performance and adherence to quality standards and procedures.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, root cause analysis and preventative action across manufacturing, engineering and supplier operations.
  • Manage and maintain the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 requirements, including internal audits, compliance activities and corrective action programmes.
  • Monitor, analyse and report key quality metrics, implementing improvement plans to enhance product quality, manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee supplier quality management, including audits, performance reviews, corrective actions, APQP activities and PPAP approvals.
  • Lead structured problem-solving initiatives using industry-standard tools such as 8D, Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, Pareto Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams and Process Capability Studies.
  • Manage inspection, calibration and measurement systems to ensure accuracy, compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Procurement and other stakeholders to support new product introduction and ongoing process improvement.
  • Ensure effective containment, investigation and resolution of customer and internal quality concerns.
  • Champion a proactive quality culture focused on prevention rather than correction.


Skills & Experience Required as a Quality Manager:

  • Qualification in Quality Management, Engineering or a related technical discipline (Level 4 or above preferred).
  • Proven leadership experience within a quality management role in manufacturing, engineering, automotive or aerospace sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and auditing processes.
  • Excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA and other advanced quality planning tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting statistical data and quality performance measures.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Experience managing supplier quality assurance programmes and driving supplier performance improvements.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven and capable of leading teams through change and improvement initiatives.
