Quality Manager – Food Manufacturing
Location: Burton-on-Trent
Salary: £55,000
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are recruiting an experienced Quality Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business in Burton-on-Trent.
Reporting into the Head of Technical, you will be responsible for leading the site Quality Assurance function, managing the QA team and ensuring the factory consistently meets food safety, quality, legal, customer and regulatory standards.
This is a hands-on factory-based role suited to someone who enjoys leading people, maintaining high standards on the shop floor and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the QA team, including Senior QA and QA Technicians.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and GMP across the site.
- Support and lead preparation for BRCGS, customer and third-party audits.
- Ensure the site remains continuously audit ready.
- Support the management and implementation of HACCP systems.
- Monitor factory compliance and ensure corrective actions are completed effectively.
- Manage non-conformances, investigations, root-cause analysis and CAPA.
- Oversee raw-material intake and quality controls.
- Monitor product quality and ensure finished products meet specification.
- Support microbiological and environmental sampling programmes.
- Maintain and develop the site's environmental monitoring programme.
- Support allergen, hygiene and food-safety controls.
- Monitor quality trends and use data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support complaint investigations and preventative actions.
- Work closely with Production, Technical and Hygiene teams.
- Promote a positive food-safety and quality culture across the factory.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience managing a QA/Quality team within food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards.
- Food Safety Level 4 or equivalent.
- HACCP Level 3 or above.
- Internal auditing experience.
- Strong understanding of GMP and factory food-safety standards.
- Knowledge of food microbiology and environmental monitoring.
- Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Confident working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
