The Opportunity
Off the back of continued growth and a strong, secured pipeline, our client is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor. This is a hands-on role with real ownership of your own packages and projects, and clear scope to progress as the business continues to scale.
You'll manage the full commercial lifecycle of RC frame, groundworks and civil engineering packages from procurement and subcontractor management through to valuations, cost control and final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full commercial ownership of allocated projects/packages from pre-start to final account
- Prepare, submit and agree monthly valuations, applications for payment and variations
- Manage costs, cash flow, margin and commercial reporting; identify and mitigate commercial risk
- Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers, including negotiating and administering orders
- Measure and value works from drawings and BoQs (RC frame / groundworks / civils)
- Administer subcontracts (typically JCT / NEC) and manage change, notices and entitlement
- Prepare and agree final accounts
- Work closely with operations, site and design teams to support delivery on time, on budget and to specification
- Support accurate cost forecasting, CVRs and management reporting
About You
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (or Assistant/Intermediate QS ready to step up) with an RC frame, groundworks and/or civil engineering subcontractor or a main contractor with strong substructure/frame exposure
- Sound understanding of RC frame, groundworks and civils measurement, sequencing and buildability
- Confident managing subcontract packages, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Good working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC forms of contract
- Commercially sharp, numerate and comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience.
