The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and take responsibility for the commercial management of fit-out and interior projects.

Working closely with the Project and Delivery Teams, you will manage projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring costs are controlled, commercial risks are identified and projects are delivered profitably.

This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor with a strong fit-out, interiors, joinery or specialist subcontractor background who is looking to join a growing business with an interesting and varied project portfolio.



Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of fit-out and interior projects from pre-construction through to final account

  • Managing project budgets, costs and financial performance

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and project documentation

  • Assisting with procurement and tendering of subcontract and supplier packages

  • Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations

  • Preparing and issuing subcontract orders

  • Negotiating commercial terms with subcontractors and suppliers

  • Preparing and reviewing valuations and applications for payment

  • Managing variations, changes and additional works

  • Maintaining accurate cost and commercial records

  • Preparing monthly cost reports and forecasts

  • Monitoring project performance against budget

  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities

  • Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and clients

  • Managing subcontractor accounts through to final account

  • Preparing, negotiating and agreeing final accounts

  • Monitoring cash flow and payment positions

  • Supporting the resolution of commercial and contractual issues

  • Ensuring commercial procedures and contractual obligations are followed

  • Providing commercial advice to the wider project team



The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor

  • Strong experience within fit-out, interiors, joinery or specialist construction

  • Experience working for a main contractor or specialist subcontractor

  • Strong understanding of procurement and subcontract management

  • Experience with valuations, variations and final accounts

  • Good commercial and contractual awareness

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

  • Excellent numerical and analytical ability

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines

  • Confident working with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams

  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel

  • Relevant Quantity Surveying / construction qualification would be advantageous

  • Full UK driving licence
