Quantity Surveyor – (Permanent)

Our client is a well-established and growing groundworks contractor delivering high-quality projects across the region. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in groundworks to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working closely with site teams and is looking to play a key role in the successful delivery of multiple groundwork and civil engineering projects.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from initial procurement through to final account. Working from site, you will collaborate with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered on budget while maintaining strong client relationships and commercial control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial performance of groundwork projects from inception to completion.
  • Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Producing cost plans, forecasts and commercial reports.
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and account agreements.
  • Identifying and valuing variations and change control.
  • Monitoring project costs and profitability.
  • Supporting contract negotiations and ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Working closely with site managers and project teams to maximise commercial performance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks sector (essential).
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Experience working for a groundworks or civil engineering contractor.
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract.
  • Experience working on residential and commercial groundwork packages.
