Exciting Opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor - Flood & Coastal Capital Projects
Carrington West are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a leading South West Flood & Coastal shared service, delivering a portfolio of major flood defence and coastal infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC contract experience to play a key role in supporting capital delivery schemes, providing commercial advice, managing costs and ensuring projects are delivered effectively.
The successful candidate will join a sector-leading team and support a forward investment programme currently valued at approximately £45m over the next 24 months.
The role will initially focus on supporting several live flood and coastal capital projects, working across NEC contracts and providing commercial assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:
·Assessing and managing compensation events under NEC contracts.
·Reviewing and approving payment applications.
·Providing commercial advice and supporting early warning processes.
·Monitoring client budgets and producing financial forecasts.
·Stress testing cost scenarios during the design and delivery phases.
·Reviewing contractor proposals, forecasts and pricing submissions, including NEC4 ECC Option X22 Early Contractor Involvement submissions.
·Supporting cost management during design and construction stages.
·Assisting with monitoring and forecasting the wider capital investment programme.
·Preparing estimates, financial reports and contractual advice to support successful scheme delivery.
·Agreeing measurements, valuations and payment values with contractors.
·Providing commercial support in line with council procedures and standards.
The successful Quantity Surveyor will have experience in:
·Quantity Surveying within a civil engineering, construction or infrastructure environment.
·NEC contract administration and commercial management.
·Managing construction project costs, valuations and forecasting.
·Assessing compensation events and contractual changes.
·Working with contractors and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
·Knowledge of NEC4 contracts and main contract options.
·Experience working towards Chartered Quantity Surveyor status (MRICS) or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable:
·Familiarity with PRINCE2 or APM project management frameworks.
·Full UK driving licence due to site visits and project requirements.
Working Arrangements
·Hybrid working arrangement.
·Based from Bournemouth with approximately two days per week required in the office or site locations as required.
·Flexible working days available across Monday-Friday.
·Regular visits to live flood, coastal and construction sites will be required.
