The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction and property services business delivering a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, refurbishment, and public sector projects.
This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of schemes, taking responsibility for the commercial performance of projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on budget, on programme, and to the highest standards.
This position would suit a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor seeking a long-term opportunity within a collaborative and forward-thinking organisation.
The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and financial management of construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring effective cost control and maximising project profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and financial aspects of multiple construction and refurbishment projects.
- Prepare cost plans, budgets, estimates, valuations, and cash flow forecasts.
- Lead subcontractor procurement, tender enquiries, and package assessments.
- Negotiate subcontractor payments, variations, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs and financial performance against budgets.
- Identify and manage commercial risks while maximising opportunities for value engineering and profitability.
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Produce accurate commercial reports and financial forecasts.
- Work closely with operational teams to maintain commercial control throughout project delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Experience delivering residential, commercial, refurbishment, maintenance, or public sector projects.
- Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Experience managing subcontractor packages and commercial negotiations.
- A sound understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and financial management skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
