Quantity Surveyor
CRG TEC
Walsall | Up to £50,000 + car allowance + benefits
If you’re a Quantity Surveyor who likes being close enough to the projects to actually see what you’re commercially managing, this could be a good one.
You'll work with an established engineering business delivering mechanical, electrical and infrastructure projects across the utilities sector. They’ve got a strong pipeline of work and are looking for a QS to join their commercial team, taking responsibility for several live projects typically ranging from £500k up to £5m.
You’ll report into a Senior Quantity Surveyor, so there’s support around you, but you’ll have plenty of ownership too.
This isn’t just sitting behind a spreadsheet. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and subcontractors, keeping on top of costs, variations and commercial risk throughout the project lifecycle.
What will you be doing?
- Managing the commercial side of several live projects
- Producing budgets, forecasts and monthly CVRs
- Preparing valuations, applications and final accounts
- Managing variations, additional works and compensation events
- Supporting Project Managers with cost tracking and commercial risk
- Reviewing contracts and identifying potential risks early
- Working with clients and subcontractors to resolve commercial issues
- Monitoring cost-to-complete and spotting risks and opportunities
- Supporting tenders for upcoming projects
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you’ll already have QS experience within utilities, water, civils, M&E or wider infrastructure projects.
You’ll need a good understanding of NEC contracts, ideally NEC3/4, and any JCT experience would be useful too.
A Quantity Surveying degree would be ideal, although relevant HNC/HND qualifications alongside solid QS experience will absolutely be considered.
More than anything, you need to be comfortable working alongside operational teams. You’ll be dealing with PMs, Engineers, clients and subcontractors rather than sitting somewhere in commercial HQ wondering what’s happening on site.
A full UK driving licence is also needed as there’ll be some travel to projects.
What’s in it for you?
Up to £50,000 + car allowance + pension and benefits, with hybrid working and a Walsall base.
You’ll get exposure to sizeable infrastructure projects, work alongside an experienced commercial team and have a genuine route to develop towards Senior QS as you grow with the business.
