Curve Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a highly respected main contractor in their search for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Bury St Edmunds.

Our client delivers a diverse range of projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, residential, heritage and public sectors, covering both refurbishment and new build schemes.

Projects typically range from £1m to £6m and are delivered under JCT Traditional and Design & Build contracts. The successful candidate will take full commercial responsibility for their own projects, typically managing around three schemes at any one time.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is well organised, commercially strong and confident taking ownership of projects from start through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking full commercial ownership of multiple live projects.
  • Managing all commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.
  • Producing monthly CVRs and forecasting project margins.
  • Preparing subcontractor enquiries, tender analysis and procurement schedules.
  • Managing subcontractor valuations, payments and variations.
  • Monitoring project costs and maintaining effective cost control.
  • Producing accurate commercial reports and forecasts.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.

About You

  • Strong experience working within a Quantity Surveying role, ideally for a main contractor.
  • Proven experience independently running your own projects.
  • Good knowledge of JCT contracts, including Traditional and Design & Build.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence taking ownership of project performance.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Experience across a range of sectors would be advantageous, although not essential.

Package

Up to £70,000 depending on experience, alongside a competitive package including car allowance, phone, pension and additional benefits.
