A well-established consultancy is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team on a permanent PAYE basis.

Location

This is primarily a home-based or hybrid position, supporting projects and framework agreements across Northern England and the Midlands. The successful candidate will be expected to travel to client offices and operational sites when required, working with major utility and infrastructure organisations throughout the region.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced commercial team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of infrastructure and capital projects from a commercial and contractual perspective. The position offers a mixture of remote working, client office attendance, and site visits, providing direct exposure to both clients and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior commercial staff in delivering projects from initial stages through to final completion.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted point of contact.
  • Provide commercial management on infrastructure projects, preferably under NEC contracts.
  • Prepare estimates, budgets, and cost plans.
  • Assist with procurement activities and commercial advice.
  • Produce and manage tender and contract documentation.
  • Administer contracts and monitor project costs.
  • Prepare regular financial and commercial reports.
  • Manage and agree final accounts.
  • Attend client meetings and undertake site inspections as required.
  • Lead discussions with project stakeholders and confidently represent the business in meetings.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of delivery.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Practical experience working with NEC3 / NEC4 contracts.
  • Strong post-contract commercial management experience.
  • Proven cost management and financial reporting skills.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the water sector or broader utilities industry.
  • Progression towards professional accreditation such as MRICS or MCICES.
  • Experience in pre-contract services, procurement, and contract preparation.
