Quantity Surveyor – The Company

A successful and well-established regional main contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.

The company is a respected SME main contractor with a turnover of circa £50m, delivering a wide range of new build construction projects across residential, mixed-use, commercial and selected public-sector sectors. Projects are typically delivered within the Northern Home Counties and surrounding areas.

With a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation for staff retention and progression, this is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop into a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the next 12–18 months.

Quantity Surveyor – The Role

The successful Quantity Surveyor will take full commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account, working closely with operational and delivery teams.

This role would suit a commercially capable Quantity Surveyor who is confident managing projects independently and enjoys working within a professional SME main contracting environment.

Typical duties & responsibilities:

  • Commercial management of new build projects
  • Subcontract procurement and package management
  • Preparing valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Cost reporting, forecasting and budget control
  • Managing subcontractor accounts and payments
  • Working closely with site teams and Contracts Managers
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Supporting the successful delivery of residential and commercial construction projects

Quantity Surveyor – The Person

  • Experience working for a main contractor is essential
  • Previous experience delivering new build construction projects
  • Able to commercially manage projects independently
  • Strong understanding of cost reporting and contract administration
  • Experience within an SME main contractor environment would be beneficial
  • Ambitious and motivated to progress into a Senior Quantity Surveyor role
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence
