Quantity Surveyor - Major 400kV Overhead Line Project

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure delivering a major high voltage overhead line project in Scotland.
The project forms part of a significant investment in Scotland's electricity transmission network and offers the opportunity to work on a major, long-term infrastructure programme whilst working for a well regarded, leading main contractor.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll take responsibility for the commercial management of your own work packages, working closely with the project, operational and wider commercial teams.
You'll be involved in:
- Managing the commercial aspects of allocated projects and work packages.
- Preparing cost reports, forecasts and financial reconciliations.
- Managing valuations, applications and payments.
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts, rates, prices, variations and compensation events.
- Managing subcontractor performance and commercial compliance.
- Supporting the preparation of claims and commercial submissions.
- Analysing tender information and supporting procurement activities.
- Monitoring commercial performance, risks and opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with customers, project teams and supply chain partners.
- Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the commercial team.
About You
We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a proven background in major infrastructure projects and experience working under NEC contracts.
You don't necessarily need previous power transmission or overhead line experience, but you should have worked on substantial infrastructure projects in sectors such as Rail, Highways, Utilities, Energy or other similar sectors.
You'll need a strong understanding of NEC contracts, commercial management and change control, together with the ability to work effectively with operational teams, clients and the supply chain.
Location & Working Arrangements
The project has offices in Glasgow, Inverness and Elgin.
There is flexibility around where candidates are based, with hybrid working and arrangements for travel to site.
Package
- £45,000 - £58,000 salary - depending on experience
