Quantity Surveyor in Peckham, Greater London

H​yreus is currently recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor for an exciting opportunity based in Peckham, London, working on a major infrastructure project with a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor.

The successful candidate will support the commercial management of a major infrastructure project, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and senior stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a major London infrastructure environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial and contractual management of assigned project packages from procurement through to completion.

• Assist with budgets, forecasts, valuations, applications for payment and monthly cost reporting.

• Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, including procurement, payment applications, variations and final accounts.

• Monitor project costs, commitments and expenditure, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.

• Assist with change management, variations, compensation events and contractual claims.

• Work closely with project managers, engineers and operational teams to support commercial performance.

• Prepare accurate commercial reports and provide regular updates to senior management.

• Support subcontract and supplier negotiations, ensuring contractual obligations are managed effectively.

• Assist with procurement activities, including tender analysis and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.

• Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

• Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.

• Experience working for a Tier One contractor is highly desirable.

• Good knowledge of commercial and contractual management, including NEC contracts, valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts.

• Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers on complex projects.

• Strong commercial awareness with good analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.

• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and relevant commercial/project management systems.
