The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a successful and well-established contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality commercial construction projects. This contractor specialises in commercial projects They are now seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong commercial cost management experience, playing a key role in controlling costs, maximising value, and supporting the commercial success of each project.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage all commercial and cost aspects across multiple commercial developments
- Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, valuations, and cash flow forecasts
- Measure works and prepare accurate interim valuations and final accounts
- Procure subcontractors and materials, including preparing enquiries, analysing tenders, and negotiating terms
- Manage subcontractor accounts, including variations, applications, and payments
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants on commercial matters
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, reporting on cost/value reconciliation (CVR)
- Support project managers and site teams with commercial and contractual advice
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage change control processes
- Contribute to pre-construction with cost planning, feasibility, and tender submissions
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role
- Strong background in commercial construction (new-build, fit-out, or refurbishment)
- Excellent understanding of measurement, procurement, and contract administration (JCT/NEC)
- Confident preparing cost reports, valuations, and final accounts
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Organised, methodical, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Competent IT skills (Excel, cost management software, and document management systems)
- A full UK driving licence (essential)
