Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing Capital Projects team supporting a government contract.

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the delivery of Capital Projects and MAC services within a government environment. The successful candidate will provide cost management and commercial support across a portfolio of projects operating under NEC4 contracts, ensuring effective financial control, compliance and value delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Working as part of a collaborative and growing team, you will help implement and maintain high standards of commercial management while supporting the cost-effective delivery of projects. The role offers exposure to a varied project portfolio and the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while working with a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts and cost plans.
  • Monitor, track and report financial performance against agreed targets.
  • Administer NEC4 contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Assess and manage contract risks, variations, compensation events and claims.
  • Prepare tender documentation and support tender evaluation and procurement activities.
  • Review applications for payment and prepare interim and final valuations.
  • Provide commercial advice and reporting to project teams, clients, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
  • Support governance, compliance, supply chain management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Building Surveying.
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction and/or facilities management sector.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC4 contract administration.
  • Expertise in cost management, tendering, procurement, valuations and risk management.
  • Experience managing concurrent projects or programmes with a combined annual value exceeding £5m.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and cost management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Additional Requirements

Essential

  • Eligibility to obtain BPSS and CTC clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience within Government, Facilities Management, Corporate or Education environments.
  • MRICS or RICS membership.
  • NEC4 accreditation or currently working towards accreditation.
