Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing Capital Projects team.

Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in delivering cost management and commercial support across a diverse portfolio of capital projects operating under NEC4 contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial control, ensuring contractual compliance, and supporting value delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with project managers, clients, suppliers, and senior stakeholders, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects by providing commercial governance, managing risk, and supporting procurement and supply chain activities. This role offers the chance to influence best practice while ensuring robust commercial performance across both capital projects and maintenance activities.

We are looking for a commercially focused professional who can implement and sustain high standards of cost management, provide commercial governance and oversight across capital projects and maintenance activities, and support the development of supply chain strategies, compliance frameworks, and risk management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
• Monitor and report on financial performance against agreed targets, with accountability for project profit and loss performance.
• Administer NEC4 contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
• Identify, assess, and manage contract risks, providing mitigation strategies where required.
• Prepare tender documentation, evaluate submissions, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value.
• Review and certify applications for payment and prepare accurate interim and final valuations.
• Assess and manage variations, compensation events, and claims, maintaining comprehensive financial records.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, suppliers, and senior stakeholders to provide commercial advice, support governance requirements, and promote best practice across project delivery.

Person Specification

• Qualified Quantity Surveyor.
• Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction and/or facilities management sector, preferably within government, corporate, or education environments.
• Strong knowledge and experience of NEC4 contract administration.
• Demonstrable expertise in cost management, tendering, and procurement processes.
• Experience with applications for payment, valuations, change control, and risk management.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to price contractual changes.
• Experience managing concurrent projects or programmes with a combined annual value of £5 million or above.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Experience estimating project costs and presenting high-quality tender evaluation documentation to customers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Power BI, alongside cost management systems such as Coupa and online project tools including Monday .com.

Additional Requirements

• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
• Ability to obtain and maintain BPSS and CTC clearance.
