An established and highly respected main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team based in South East London.

With over 85 years of trading history, this business has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality refurbishment and planned maintenance projects across London and the South East. Working across both public and private sectors, they are recognised for their collaborative approach, long-standing client relationships and ability to successfully deliver projects within live and occupied environments.

Quantity Surveyor - The Role

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Team, you will take commercial responsibility for one or more refurbishment and planned maintenance projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Duties will include:

  • Preparing cost plans, budgets and forecasts.
  • Procurement and management of subcontract packages.
  • Tender analysis and subcontract negotiations.
  • Valuations and payment applications.
  • Cost reporting and CVRs.
  • Managing variations and change control.
  • Subcontract account management.
  • Final account negotiation and agreement.
  • Working closely with operational teams to maximise commercial performance.

Quantity Surveyor Candidate Criteria 

We are keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who have experience working for a:

  • Main Contractor
  • Planned Maintenance Contractor
  • Social Housing Contractor
  • Heritage or Specialist Refurbishment Contractor

You will ideally have:

  • 3+ years' Quantity Surveying experience.
  • Experience working on refurbishment and/or planned maintenance projects.
  • A good understanding of JCT forms of contract.
  • Knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates (desirable).
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
