We are working with an established construction and refurbishment contractor looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
The business delivers high-quality fast-track fit-out and refurbishment projects across the UK, with a strong focus on the leisure and hospitality sectors, including pubs, restaurants, hotels and other high-specification venues.
This is a role for a commercially strong QS who is comfortable taking ownership of projects and working independently. You won't need someone looking over your shoulder – you'll be trusted to manage the commercial side of your projects from start to finish.
The Role
You will take commercial responsibility for multiple fit-out and refurbishment projects, working closely with clients, site teams, subcontractors and senior management.
Responsibilities will include:
- Full commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
- Preparing budgets, cost plans and project forecasts
- Managing valuations, variations and applications for payment
- Cost reporting and maintaining commercial control throughout each project
- Negotiating subcontractor accounts and final accounts
- Identifying and managing commercial risks
- Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Building strong relationships with clients and the wider supply chain
- Visiting live projects across the UK as required
Fast-track fit-out experience is essential.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong Quantity Surveying experience within a main contractor or specialist fit-out contractor
- Proven experience delivering fast-track fit-out/refurbishment projects
- Experience within leisure, hospitality, pubs, restaurants, hotels or similar environments
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
- Experience managing projects independently
- Excellent subcontractor procurement and negotiation skills
- The ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- A practical, commercially minded approach
- Willingness to travel to projects nationwide when required
