This opportunity sits within a well-established business unit operating across London and the South, delivering a wide range of refurbishment, remediation, retrofit, and building safety projects across both the public and private sectors. Their client base includes local authorities and housing associations, with projects spanning residential, student accommodation, and regeneration schemes.

The business is led by a highly experienced senior leadership team with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-quality projects.

The Role

Our client is seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Hertfordshire and to visit sites in East London / Essex.

The successful candidate will work on a long-term 10-year planned works framework, providing commercial support across a stable portfolio of social housing refurbishment and maintenance projects.

This role offers broad commercial responsibility and is ideally suited to a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career, with a clear pathway to progress into a Senior Quantity Surveyor position.

The position also offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, combining office, site and home-based working.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the commercial aspects of planned works projects from procurement through to final account
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, cost plans and financial forecasts
  • Produce and submit valuations, variations and payment applications
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts
  • Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to maximise value and minimise risk
  • Administer contracts in accordance with company procedures and client requirements
  • Prepare accurate commercial reports for senior management
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget and programme
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the successful delivery of the long-term framework

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working on planned maintenance, refurbishment or social housing projects is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial management software
  • A proactive and ambitious approach, with the desire to progress into a Senior Quantity Surveyor role
