Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well-established and growing business operating across civil engineering, renewables, road and bridge works, environmental projects and building works. They are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Inverness.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to take an active role in the successful delivery of projects, while helping to develop existing client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

Working closely with the wider construction and commercial teams, you will play an important role in strengthening the company's position within the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will form part of the construction team on allocated contracts and be responsible for supporting the financial and contractual management of projects from commencement through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Form part of the construction team for specific contracts.

Assist with the financial and contractual control of allocated projects.

Undertake the re-measurement of trades relevant to each contract.

Prepare and submit interim applications for payment.

Value relevant and valid contract variations for inclusion within applications for payment.

Prepare and process supplier and subcontractor payments.

Assist Site Managers with material orders and procurement.

Prepare contractual correspondence in consultation with the Commercial Manager.

Attend progress, commercial and team meetings as required.

Monitor project performance and identify potential commercial risks and opportunities.

Provide regular updates to the Director and Commercial Manager on commercial matters.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with:

Clients and their representatives

Subcontractors and suppliers

Site and construction teams

Commercial and management teams

Other key internal and external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial experience within the construction or civil engineering sector, with the ability to manage projects effectively from both a financial and contractual perspective.

You will have:

The ability to negotiate terms, conditions and final accounts with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and their representatives.

Proven ability to financially and contractually control construction projects.

Detailed knowledge of construction techniques and principles.

A strong understanding of commonly used construction contracts and conditions of contract.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

A commercially focused and proactive approach.

The ability to identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to provide accurate financial information.
