Quantity Surveyor – Social Housing Retrofit & EWI
South Wales | Permanent or Freelance Considered |
£40,000 to £75,00 p.a. (depending on experience)
We are working with a well-established South Wales contractor that is experiencing significant growth within its social housing retrofit and decarbonisation division.
Following the award of additional projects and an increasing workload, the business is expanding its specialist retrofit team and is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in its continued development.
This is an opportunity to join a contractor that is building a dedicated team focused on delivering External Wall Insulation (EWI), energy efficiency, refurbishment and retrofit projects across the social housing sector.
Unlike many commercial construction roles, success in this position is not measured by the size of the projects you have worked on, but by your understanding of retrofit construction, social housing delivery and your ability to manage commercial challenges independently.
The Role
- Commercial management of social housing retrofit, refurbishment and planned improvement projects.
- Preparation and management of valuations, variations, cost reports and final accounts.
- Procurement and subcontractor management.
- Supporting operational teams throughout project delivery.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
- Reviewing project performance and ensuring commercial objectives are achieved.
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
About You
We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within:
- Social housing planned works.
- Retrofit and decarbonisation programmes.
- External Wall Insulation (EWI) projects.
- Refurbishment and maintenance contracts.
- Fabric improvement works.
- Roofing, insulation or building envelope packages.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous Quantity Surveying experience within social housing, refurbishment, maintenance or retrofit environments.
- A sound understanding of EWI systems and retrofit construction methods.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
- The confidence to work independently and make informed commercial decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Why Apply?
- Join a contractor with a growing pipeline of secured work across South Wales.
- Be part of a newly expanding specialist retrofit division.
- Work on projects that directly improve existing housing stock and local communities.
- Play an influential role within a growing team rather than being a small cog in a large organisation.
- Permanent and freelance applicants will both be considered.
- Competitive salary or day rate available, with flexibility for candidates who can demonstrate strong social housing, retrofit and EWI experience.
- Benefits Package for permanent employees (inc. car allowance, healthcare, etc).
Apply
If you have genuine experience delivering social housing retrofit, planned works, refurbishment or EWI projects and would like to join a growing contractor with ambitious expansion plans, we'd like to hear from you.
