Walker & Sloan are working with an established and highly respected construction contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Gloucestershire.
Our client delivers a diverse range of projects across the utilities, civil engineering, maintenance, and refurbishment sectors and has built an excellent reputation for quality delivery, long-standing client relationships, and a strong pipeline of repeat business.
Due to continued growth and a healthy order book, they are looking to appoint an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who is keen to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring commercial objectives are achieved while supporting successful project delivery.
Working closely with operational teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and senior management, you'll be responsible for managing costs, identifying opportunities, mitigating risks, and helping drive profitability across a varied portfolio of work.
This position offers excellent exposure to multiple sectors and would suit a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking for a long-term opportunity within a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial delivery of multiple projects across utilities, maintenance, refurbishment, and civil engineering sectors
- Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
- Preparing valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Monitoring project costs, budgets, and forecasts
- Producing monthly commercial reports and CVRs
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Supporting contract administration and change management processes
- Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams
- Ensuring projects are delivered in line with commercial targets and business objectives
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or maintenance sectors
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management capability
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement activities
- Good understanding of contract administration and commercial reporting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Organised, proactive, and commercially focused approach
- Full UK driving licence
