Rail Account Manager

Rail Account Manager

Sheffield

Salary: £40,000-  £45,000 + bonus + Car

Are you an experienced Account Manager with a background in rail, engineering, manufacturing or another technical industry, and looking for a role where you can build strong customer relationships and have real autonomy?

This is not a cold-start sales role. You’ll walk straight into an existing portfolio of customers, meaning you can get to work building relationships, taking orders, introducing new innovations and earning bonus from day one.

The role is primarily account management, with the opportunity to develop new business where you see potential. You’ll manage your own diary and have complete flexibility to work from home, the office or out visiting customers.

A rail background would be highly desirable, but it’s not essential. We’d also be keen to hear from people with experience in similar technical, engineering or industrial environments who are confident managing customers and developing commercial relationships.

Responsibilities of a Rail Account Manager:

  • Managing and developing established rail-sector customer relationships.
    • Taking ownership of key accounts, including Network Rail.
    • Taking customer orders and ensuring requirements are managed effectively.
    • Visiting customers and maintaining strong face-to-face relationships.
    • Introducing customers to new equipment, products and innovations.
    • Identifying opportunities to increase sales across existing accounts.
    • Developing new business opportunities where appropriate.
    • Managing your own diary, appointments and customer visits.
    • Working closely with internal teams to ensure customers receive an excellent service.
    • Supporting the continued growth of the company within the rail sector.
    • Representing the business at customer meetings, events and exhibitions where required.

Requirements of a Rail Account Manager:

  • Ideally experienced within the rail sector, although other relevant industries will be considered.
    • Confident and comfortable dealing with customers at all levels.
    • A strong relationship builder and communicator.
    • Commercially aware and able to spot opportunities.
    • Organised and capable of managing your own diary and workload.
    • Proactive, personable and happy working independently.
    • Comfortable travelling to customer sites when required.
    • In possession of a full UK driving licence.
