Raw Material Specifications Technologist

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Raw Material Specifications Technologist to join our Technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in food manufacturing, specifications, quality assurance or technical compliance who enjoys working with data, suppliers and customers to ensure products meet the highest standards.

You'll play a key role in validating supplier raw material information, maintaining specification systems, supporting product launches and ensuring compliance with customer, legal and industry requirements.

As our Raw Material Specifications Technologist, you will:

  • Assess and validate supplier raw material specifications for accuracy and compliance.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain missing information and resolve specification queries.
  • Produce and maintain finished product specifications for retailer and branded products.
  • Update raw material changes across finished product specifications.
  • Coordinate customer approvals for raw material changes and short lead-time projects.
  • Support Procurement with raw material change projects and supply issues.
  • Coordinate customer sampling and approval processes.
  • Review artwork to ensure legal and accurate product labelling.
  • Maintain the company's specification database and technical systems.
  • Work with internal recipe management software and customer specification portals.
  • Keep up to date with food legislation and retailer requirements.
  • Assist with supplier approval processes, documentation and technical compliance.
  • Support supplier audits and associated technical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with Procurement, Technical, NPD and other internal departments.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, food safety requirements and BRCGS standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support additional technical projects as required.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience within a food manufacturing Technical, Specifications or Quality role.
  • A good understanding of food labelling legislation and retailer specification requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • The ability to analyse technical information accurately.
  • Experience working with supplier specifications and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Good IT skills and experience using specification databases or retailer specification systems.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
