Payrate: Band 2, £12.92 per hour
Shift Patterns: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm (3 Days a week) (22.5 hours per week)
Duration: Start: 17th August, 2026, End date: 16th May, 2027
JOB SUMMARY
Assist in maintaining a reception and clerical service for the benefit of children / adolescents and their families attending outpatient appointments.
Principle Duties
- Reception duties in the paediatric outpatient department.
- Ensure patients details are entered onto the computerised record system (CRS) as per Trust protocols.
- Answer telephone in the correct manner and take messages as appropriate or refer to nurse in charge.
- Produce labels for patient records as required.
- Responsible for clinic scheduling & re-scheduling when required.
- Booking Follow up appointments with Consultants, cashing up these outcomes in a timely manner.
- Work closely with medical, nursing and therapy staff requiring patient details and any other information.
- Assist in the production of formal reports regarding paediatric outpatient activity.
- Responsible for the compilation of monthly clinic rotas to ensure adequate clinic space. Maintain absolute confidentiality in respect of all patient records.
- Communicate with children & parents in order to promote their comfort and wellbeing.
- Ensure parents of children are aware of amenities and facilities available for their use and are enabled to access them.
- Promote a positive image of children’ services by a professional and helpful approach to all team members and visitors to paediatric outpatients.
- Listen to impromptu complaints made by patients, relatives or other staff and refer to the appropriate person.
Experience:
- Experience working within a healthcare setting
- Experience working within an administrative clerical setting
- Experience working in a busy customer focused care environment.
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely with multi-disciplinary team, the patients and carers
- Demonstrates a courteous manner with all individuals
- Has a calm telephone manner
- Understands the concept of confidentiality
- Demonstrates good organisational skills
