Position: Recycling Assistant - Grade C
Location: Household Waste Recycling Centre, (HWRC), Chelson Meadow, The Ride, Plymstock, Plymouth, PL9 7JT
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 12+ Weeks (3+ Months)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £ 13.26 Per hour

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the public with the safe disposal and recycling of household waste.

• Advise customers on correct waste segregation and recycling procedures.

• Direct vehicles and manage site traffic safely.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised recycling centre.

• Carry out manual handling duties, including handling hazardous waste where required.

• Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Identify and report hazards or unsafe practices.

• Process customer payments for chargeable waste accurately.

• Deliver excellent customer service and promote safe site use.

• Support the site in maximising recycling and environmental compliance.

Person Specification

• Previous customer service experience.

• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties.

• Good teamwork and problem-solving skills.

• Reliable, professional, and proactive attitude.

• Basic numeracy and cash handling skills.

• Ability to follow procedures and work independently when required.
