Downpatrick, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council £14.07/hour (PAYE) 36 hours per week | Temporary - 26 weeks

About the Role

We're recruiting on behalf of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for a Household Recycling Centre (HRC) Operative to join their Neighbourhood Services team. You'll be based at the Household Recycling Centre (HRC) - the local recycling and tip site - on Flying Horse Rd, Downpatrick, helping members of the public sort and dispose of their waste safely and responsibly.

You'll play a key role in delivering a safe, courteous, and efficient recycling service to the public.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operating the Civic Amenity and Recycling Centre, promoting recycling to all site users
• Handling cash and issuing receipts in line with council procedures
• Directing traffic and assisting members of the public with tipping
• Maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the site and surrounding area
• Completing site records, waste transfer notes, and other required paperwork
• Operating compactors and supporting contractors on site
• Ensuring health & safety and pest control standards are met

What We're Looking For

• Eligibility to work in the UK
• A valid driving licence 9 Category B (car) licence required
• Strong customer service skills - you'll be the council's face to the public
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to follow site procedures
