National Distribution Manager

Location: Home-based.
Territory: Midlands, Southern England, Wales and Ireland
Salary: £55,000–£60,000 + £7,500 car allowance + performance-related bonus

The Opportunity

Innova Search is partnering with an established international manufacturer to recruit a National Distribution Manager responsible for developing and expanding its distributor network across the UK and Ireland.

This is an opportunity for an experienced, commercially driven sales professional to take ownership of an established territory, strengthen existing distributor relationships and identify new partnerships that will deliver sustainable revenue growth.

The business has an established reputation for quality, supported by a broad product portfolio and an existing network of distribution partners. However, there is considerable untapped potential across the territory, particularly in areas where distributor coverage can be strengthened.

We're looking for someone who understands how to grow sales through distribution channels, enjoys developing relationships and has the confidence to identify, approach and secure new commercial partners.

Industry background is not the deciding factor. Candidates could come from a wide range of product-led sectors, including tools, lubricants, components, consumables, hardware, building products, electrical supplies or other markets where products are sold through distributors and dealers.

What matters is your ability to develop a commercially productive distribution network and consistently generate new business.

The Role

Reporting to the Global Sales Director, you'll take responsibility for the commercial development and performance of an established distributor network across a substantial geographical territory.

You'll have the autonomy to manage your own schedule, identify opportunities and develop a structured approach to growing the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing existing distributor relationships, identifying opportunities to increase sales, strengthen engagement and improve account performance.
  • Identifying, approaching and appointing new distribution partners, particularly in areas where market coverage can be improved.
  • Developing commercial relationships with distributor owners, management teams and sales representatives.
  • Creating and implementing territory development plans focused on sustainable revenue growth and increased market penetration.
  • Conducting regular distributor visits, business reviews and joint customer meetings to identify opportunities and support sales activity.
  • Supporting distributors with product demonstrations, merchandising initiatives, promotional activity and product knowledge.
  • Negotiating distributor agreements, supporting commercial planning and monitoring performance against agreed objectives.
  • Identifying opportunities to generate demand through relationships with relevant end users and strategic commercial partners.
  • Managing your sales pipeline, maintaining accurate CRM records and providing reliable sales forecasts and market intelligence.
  • Working closely with internal sales, technical and marketing teams to ensure distributors receive the support needed to grow their business.

This is a genuinely field-based position, with success driven by time spent developing relationships, engaging with prospective partners and converting opportunities into long-term business.

About You

We're looking for an experienced field sales professional with a proven ability to develop business through distributors, dealers or other established trade channels.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience in B2B field sales, preferably working for a manufacturer or supplier selling products through distributor or dealer networks.
  • A demonstrable track record of managing and developing distributor relationships, alongside identifying and winning new business.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to recognise opportunities, negotiate effectively and develop profitable, long-term partnerships.
  • Experience managing a geographical sales territory independently, including customer visits, prospecting and sales forecasting.
  • The confidence to engage with business owners, senior decision-makers and distributor sales teams.
  • A proactive, resilient approach to business development, with the motivation to consistently identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • The ability to understand a technical product range, communicate its benefits and support distributors in promoting it effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience using CRM systems to manage commercial activity and opportunities.

You may currently be working as an Area Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Territory Sales Manager, Distribution Sales Manager, Channel Sales Manager or Business Development Manager.

We are open to candidates from a broad range of industries. Your experience of developing distributor networks and delivering commercial growth is considerably more important than the specific products you've previously sold.

Territory and Working Arrangements

This is a home-based role covering the Midlands, Southern England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Candidates based in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire or Warwickshire would be particularly well positioned, although individuals from other suitable locations will also be considered.

The position involves regular travel throughout the territory, including overnight stays and periodic visits to Ireland. You'll have considerable autonomy in planning your schedule and organising customer visits effectively.

Training and Support

You'll receive comprehensive product training and practical support from an experienced commercial and technical team.

The initial period will focus on developing your product knowledge, meeting existing distribution partners and understanding the opportunities across the territory.

As you become established, the focus will increasingly shift towards new distributor recruitment, account development and delivering measurable sales growth.

The Package

  • £55,000–£60,000 basic salary
  • £7,500 annual car allowance
  • Performance-related bonus and additional sales growth incentive
  • Home-based working with considerable autonomy
  • Comprehensive product training and ongoing commercial support
  • Opportunity to develop an established territory with significant growth potential

Interested?

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially ambitious sales professional who enjoys building relationships, developing distribution networks and taking genuine ownership of their territory.

If you have a successful background in distribution-led sales and are looking for a role where your contribution can make a tangible difference, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
